Nathine G. Smith Education:
BA, Art Major, The University of Toledo/Toledo Museum of Medium:
Mixed media on paper; collage; watercolor; pastel; colored pencil;
graphite Statement: My
work is created by experimentation with mixed media on paper, exploring
texture, form, and color in two and three-dimensional abstract forms.
My inspiration comes from nature, music, and literature. While
it consumes a great deal of time and patience, as well as manipulative
skills, I find considerable satisfaction in this creative process and in
expressing my emotions in a contemporary way.
I have developed some different techniques using paints, colored
pencils, pastels, crayons, inks, and glues with a variety of papers,
cloth, and mundane found materials. Many
of the found materials are common household by-products that would be
discarded. I returned to
college to pursue an additional degree when my family was grown, and I am
committed to full-time artistic endeavors. Membership:
