Artist Statement If I could put into words the beauty an artist sees, I’d be a writer; instead I paint what I see in hopes that others will notice the magnificence of everyday life. These are stills from the life I live, the moments I’ll remember for a lifetime. The photograph of Jeremy that fell from a love note from overseas telling Dawn that he was fighting to come home to her, the song falling from John’s lips as the lightning bugs danced to his lyrics on the warmest night of the summer, hanging out of the lighthouses window to get the perfect picture when the sign strictly said “Keep closed”, the smell of the fresh water on the produce at the market where I noticed that no natural color can ever be recreated, and lastly the self portrait that started my obsession with art. This is my life, I paint it as a testimonial, there’s no general technique or color scheme because life is unpredictable and you never know what you’ll be handed next. Through my art it is my hope that the viewer opens their eyes, breathes deep and notices the beauty of what’s handed to them, removing the negativity and embracing the beauty no matter how small.
