Artist Statement

For me, art is not only a means of expression, but also a way to blur the line between reality and imagination. Through art I can take a world created solely in my mind and put it out there for the world to see. There are places inside each of us where we travel every day; my goal is to physically construct those imaginary places through my work.

I choose to work mainly with black and white images. I enjoy the feeling given off by them and the way the simplicity of the color palette contrasts with the complexity of the subject. My work is often grainy in appearance, which gives a gritty/course texture I find appealing; this is an element I like to carry from piece to piece.

My images serve as an open door leading deep into my mind in a way words could never express. Whether the worlds I create are realistic or unlikely, pleasant or frightening, they provide a way for others to remove themselves from their own reality and travel to some of the places my mind goes when it wanders.
